About Tali Rubinstein
Tali Rubinstein is an Israeli recorder player, singer and composer (for Latin GRAMMY Award winning album), based in NYC. Originating in classical music and delving into jazz and modern music, Tali challenges the boundaries of the recorder, and has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent, and for her extraordinarily daring and unprecedented style of playing.
Tali is also part of the group OQ – Original Quartet, representing Jewish culture in its Sephardic roots, alongside Layth Sidiq from Iraq, Shilpa Ananth from India and multiple Grammy Award winner Javier Limón from Spain, as they revive ancient traditional songs and recreate the atmosphere of musical trade of Andalusia. Tali performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Dizzy’s Club, the Kennedy Center, and collaborated with top musicians worldwide, such as Anat Cohen, Idan Raichel and David Broza, Dudu Fisher and others. Rubinstein regularly performs worldwide, and in the coming months she will be touring in the USA, Latin America (including in Teatro Mayor, one of the most important halls in Bogota), China, and Germany.
It happened in 2015
During our tour in 2015, it finally happened! AND Music Service Lab, our agency for Asian countries, informed us during our preparation for the upcoming tour that Tali would be there at the same time. That led us to revive our „recorder various“ program, focusing on the works of baroque composers, eg. Henry Purcell, G.F. Telemann and Antonio Vivaldi and mix it up with organic drum’n’bass music. After having several skype meetings and only one rehearsal, we played with Tali and cellist Jiro Yeh a concert at the well-known Rhythm Alley in Taipeih. Besides original Tuesday Microgrooves songs, we could play a whole set of Vivaldi, Purcell and Bach drum’n’bass. Yeah! Check more impressions about that unforgettable night here!
Ever since we first played with Tali we wanted to bring her to Austria – and it is going to happen in autumn 2019. There will be two or three concerts, maybe some workshop and hopefully some time in the studio together. Some of these colaboration projects will also depend on your support. Join us on our ongoing journey and discover musical places that no one has ever been to. Our crowdfunding will start soon – good karma available 😉
