Tuesday Microgrooves is an Austrian Jazz – Crossover formation that pushes musical boundaries to their limits. Inspired by various sorts of musical influences, from Esbjoern Svensson Trio to Medeski, Martin and Wood, somewhere in between jazz and drum n bass, Erik Satie and Claude Debussy, funk and soul, classic and pop.
Shortly after they started gigging in their first year, TM was given the honor of playing in front of Grammy Award winner Chucho Valdés. A few months later they were announced winners of the Helix Board competition out of 800 contestants and recorded their first studio record “Summer Rain Spring Kisses“ at the renowned Studios 301 in Cologne, Germany. Further projects with e.g. Atmosphere Media and the German Recording Magazin completed the beginning of their journey.
While working on their second release “All The Things“ (EP) the band gained a lot of inspiration out of different collaborations on stage. From string ensembles to orchestras, from solo guitar to the award winning flutist Tali Rubinstein.
With current lead singer Lena Mentschel the band headlined the Taichung Jazzfestival 2016 and earned a standing ovation in front of 10.000 people. After releasing their third record “Saying I Love You in a Postrock Way“ and supported by cellist Sigrid Narowetz, Tuesday Microgrooves completed their fourth trip to Asia in October 2017.
In 2018 Tuesday Microgrooves are going to record for a 3D sound project in cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Concerts in Qatar and other parts of Asia are to come as well as a further studio release (first time on vinyl). Also stay tuned for an extraordinary collab with some international flair…
